3-D Martial Arts Movies???

Vodule editor Yong Kim has an excellent blog about making 3-D martial-arts movies and whether that’ll be a good or bad thing. Here’s an excerpt:

Hong Kong (where the martial arts film genre is taken seriously as an art form, and appreciated as such by the general public) is undoubtedly working on a 3-D martial arts film, one that was conceived as a 3-D project. Unlike in the U.S., where martial arts films are expected to be bad and just contain gratuitous violence and needlessly flashy choreography, high expectations will put pressure on Hong Kong filmmakers to produce something amazing (imagine the cinematography of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in 3-D).

His blog contains other great nuggets, like breaking news about the production of Universal Soldier 4 and historical context about Jackie Chan’s fight choreography.
